It's about time! White house officials are falsely accused of outing a so-called covert CIA agent and the media has a three-year feeding frenzy. Meanwhile, a Clinton-era cabinet official, the national security advisor no less, gets caught with stolen classified documents, from the National Archive, stuffed in his pants and there's barely a blip on the radar. Sure the media ran a few stories about it. But none of them were as vigorous as the Plame-gate story.
Finally, someone in the republican party is calling for a more in-depth probe into the Berger scandal. Their timing is impeccable.
From Brietbart.Com:
A group of House Republicans called Wednesday for a congressional investigation into the improper handling of classified documents by President Clinton's national security adviser, Sandy Berger.
Berger admitted last year that he deliberately took classified documents out of the National Archives in 2003 and destroyed some of them at his office. He pleaded guilty in federal court to one charge of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material and was fined $50,000.
Ten lawmakers led by House Armed Services Chairman Duncan Hunter, R- Calif., and Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., released a letter calling for the House Government Reform Committee to investigate.
They asked the committee to determine whether any documents were missing from Clinton administration terrorism records, to review security measures for classified documents and to seek testimony from Berger.
Hunter's spokesman, Joe Kasper, said the Justice Department had asked Congress to hold off on any oversight until the legal case concluded.
"It's important that the House conduct its own review to ensure there is a clear understanding of the facts, and sensitive and highly classified security information is not potentially compromised in the future," Kasper said.

Mary from the Freedom Eden blog comments on the democrats' reaction to the recent North Korean nuclear bomb test. I agree wholeheartedly with her commentary. I would also add the following:
It is because of liberal appeasement that North Korea has nukes in the first place. I'm not the only blogger who holds that opinion; see my previous post.
The only unifying strategy the democrats have is to defeat George Bush and turn the remainder of his term into a lame duck Presidency. Not defeating international terrorism, not resolving the diplomatic and nuclear threats from Iran and North Korea, and certainly not stabilizing Iraq. Stymieing the President will only serve to magnify each problem with potentially deadly consequences for the American people.

Drudge exclusive:
The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained an exclusive copy of a "scary" campaign advertisement created by Hollywood producer and director David Zucker that was intended to be used by GOP organizations in the closing weeks of the 2006 campaign.
Finally, a mainstream filmmaker with some sense:
As much as the democrat party assails George Bush about staying on the offense against islamo-fascism, let's not forget the colossal mistakes made by Clinton and his democrat operatives during his eight years in office. The Ad featured above might be a satirical portrait of the previous administration, but it certainly makes a valid point.

This was just too inept to forgo commentary…
In, Democratic Party Fauxtoshops Veteran, LGF chronicles how the democratic party claims a new poll shows our brave American soldiers aren't getting the resources they need to fight the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. There's just one glitch, they're featuring a photo of a Canadian soldier instead of an American.
So the party that criticizes the GOP for not paying enough attention to our service men and women doesn't even have the wherewithal to recognize a member of their own military?
Let's not forget, over the past 20 years it has been democrats and liberals who've voted to cut defense spending, and reduce the size of the military.
Let's also not forget that recently certain high-ranking members of the democratic party have publicly declared their intention to cut the funding for the Iraq war if they take control of the house and senate.

It's been another mudslinging week in politics as we get closer to the election. Both the democrats and Republicans are fighting for votes in earnest. What worries me most however, is the democrats seem to be more concerned about defeating President Bush, rather than presenting a REAL plan to defend the country and defeat islamic fascism. (Redeploying troops to Okinawa, Japan doesn't count.)
Now for a break. MadTV pulls of a satirical look at the Al-Jazeera new network (H/T: Jawa Report.)

This from AP via Breitbart.com:
The top executive at the Democratic National Committee notified his GOP counterpart Monday that a Republican Party Web site set up to recruit GOP volunteers does not hide users' e-mail addresses from prying eyes.
The addresses can be accessed with a few simple computer key strokes after logging on to the Republican National Committee Web through a standard registration process available to all users.
In his letter to RNC chief of staff Kelley McCullough, DNC executive director Tom McMahon said: "In this time of heightened concern over the security of critical personal and financial information, participants in our political process should have every confidence that our political organizations and parties are taking every possible precaution to protect them from fraud and identity theft."
The RNC Web site appears to give access only to e-mail addresses, not other private information. Republican officials said users are protected and have the option to unsubscribe from certain lists.
"Our Web site is completely secure," RNC spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said. "This is another cheap political stunt not grounded in reality."
McMahon assured McCullough that the DNC did not store any of the RNC's user data. "Nor were you 'hacked,'" he added. "This flaw was found through normal usage of your Web site and any GOP.com user could do the same."
My question is, why was the DNC intentionally probing (a nice word for "hacking") the RNC website for weaknesses in the first place?

No kidding… from UPI :
WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 (UPI) — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is funding a research project designed to teach computers to scan text and then sort opinion from fact.
The project involves Cornell University Professor of Computer Science Claire Cardie and associate professors of computer science Janyce Wiebe of the University of Pittsburgh and Ellen Riloff of the University of Utah.
Of course, there's still quite a few bugs to work out. When they tried using the computer to scan the DNC website, or the front page of the New York Times, the program simply didn't work. There were too many opinions and not enough facts. Go figure?

Famous democratic-party slogan:
"Vote early, and vote often."
So the saying goes… Everyone knows it, but nobody will admit it.
On the subject of counting votes I received another email, from Governor Howard Dean, about the democrats' new effort to drive voters to the polls.
The message itself is broken down into two parts. The first is Dean's commentary about the apparent success of the drive to censor the ABC television mini-series, The Path to 9/11. In reality, the drive to censor the film didn't do anything except expose many democratic party members as partisan thugs and hacks. It also exposed the delicately thin legacy that the Clinton administration is trying desperately to build. According to many sources, all the pressure and threats from the democratic-party established resulted in only one minutes of film footage being edited out of the final cut. Now, on to the e-mail…
Part I:
Dear X,
Did you know that, on our web site alone, a quarter million people just like you sent letters to the ABC network about the right-wing 9/11 propaganda film they aired?
The mobilization you were part of is part of a new attitude for the Democratic Party. We're not going to be pushed around, spun, or defamed by right-wing extremists or those whom they use to disseminate their propaganda. You stood up and held your ground.
This powerful showing by Democrats who refuse to be duped or smeared created a firestorm of controversy for ABC and its parent company, Disney. It drove down ratings, mangled their promotions and gave their leadership one serious headache — a stark lesson that will make television executives think twice about becoming vehicles for propaganda and outright false claims about Democrats.
Actually, I used the website to voice my support for ABC, not my opposition to them. It makes me wonder if the quarter-million number Dean has quoted is slightly exaggerated.
Part II:
But we're not just mobilizing online. We're mobilizing on the ground in every single state across the country. As we near the November elections, our 50-state strategy operation is being transformed into a 50-state get-out-the-vote effort, and we need your help.
Our push down the home stretch is the "50-State Turnout" — an unprecedented, nationwide operation to turn voters out to the polls.
It kicks off on October 7th — exactly one month before the midterm elections. Many state parties have planned hundreds of events using our brand new PartyBuilder grassroots action tools.
There are hundreds of get-out-the-vote events — phone-banks, neighborhood canvasses or volunteer events at campaign headquarters across the country. Find one here:
http://www.democrats.org/50<snip>
The 50-State Turnout is a perfect example of how a 50-state strategy to build our party everywhere can deliver results now while building the kind of infrastructure we need for the future. We've got nearly 200 staff and thousands more trained volunteers on the ground across the country right now. They've been building towards this election for over a year in all 50 states. The 50-state strategy has meant that they got to work earlier than ever before — and it means that all the work we do between now and November will be the foundation for next year and the year after. The final 30-day sprint will kick off with events across the country on October 7th. Check for an event near you:
http://www.democrats.org/50<snip>
If you really want change, your vote isn't going to be enough. You've got to get out there and organize. The 50-State Turnout will be the broadest off-year election mobilization in our party's history — and rightly so, because the stakes couldn't be higher.I hope you'll join us on October 7th.Thank you.Governor Howard Dean, M.D.
As I said earlier, vote early and vote often, right democrats?
