NIE Report on Iran Could Lead to War, Isreal Says

Update: Iran says NIE Report is a Declaration of Surrender

So the Left thinks we should conduct a more “sensitive” war against Islamic-extremism?

From Reuters:

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran’s president said on Sunday the publication of a U.S. intelligence report saying Iran had halted a nuclear weapons program in 2003 amounted to a “declaration of surrender” by Washington in its row with Tehran.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also dismissed in an interview with state television the prospect of new U.N. sanctions against Iran over its refusal to halt sensitive atomic work.

“It is too far-fetched,” he said when asked whether he expected the U.N. Security Council to impose fresh sanctions on Iran following two such resolutions since last December.

Ahmadinejad, who often rails against the West, told a rally earlier this month that the December 3 publication of the U.S. National Intelligence Estimate was a “victory” for Iran.

He said on Sunday: “It was in fact a declaration of surrender … It was a positive action by the U.S. administration to change their attitude and it was a correct move.”

So, just how does a defeated nation handle the negotiations now that Iran is emboldened? We’ll see where “sensitive” gets us.

A portion of the “CYA” National Intelligence Estimate (“NIE”) report made public recently has apparently thrown gasoline on the proverbial fire in regard to the Iranian nuclear standoff.

The report, “liberally” written, gave Tehran a un-deserved geopolitical victory while attempting to discredit the Bush administration. The attempt IMHO didn’t completely succeed.

However, NIE reports are supposed to be designed to bring clarity to an issue. It seems as though this report did the exact opposite. Which can lead to dangerous and unforeseen consequences.

From the AP via Yahoo! News:

JERUSALEM - Israel’s public security minister warned Saturday that a U.S. intelligence report that said Iran is no longer developing nuclear arms could lead to a regional war that would threaten the Jewish state.

In his remarks — Israel’s harshest criticism yet of the U.S. report — Avi Dichter said the assessment also cast doubt on American intelligence in general, including information about Palestinian security forces’ crackdown on militant groups. The Palestinian action is required as part of a U.S.-backed renewal of peace talks with Israel this month.

Dichter cautioned that a refusal to recognize Iran’s intentions to build weapons of mass destruction could lead to armed conflict in the Middle East.

Former NYC Mayor, Ed Koch: Bush Should Deliver Ultimatum to Arab Allies

Ed Koch, Democrat and former mayor of New York City has it about right in his take on recent mid east geopolitics.

From World Tribune:

The Israel-Palestine peace meeting in Annapolis, Maryland was a success in at least one respect. It brought together every Arab state involved, including Saudi Arabia and Syria.

According to many Middle East experts, the coming together of Arab nations at the request of President Bush indicates that Arabs are in such fear of Iran and its efforts to dominate the region that they are willing to cooperate with the United States more than ever before.

And this…

In a New York Times op-ed article, author Michael B. Oren writes: “…participants in the conference were above all motivated by their fear of a radical and relentlessly aggressive Iran.” He went on to point to “the success of the Iranian proxies, Hezbollah and Hamas in Lebanon and Gaza, as well as the expansion of Iranian influence westward into the Iraqi vacuum.”

That analysis reinforces my belief that the United States could get these same Arab states to recognize that they must help us in Iraq or suffer the consequences of an ultimate Iranian victory when we leave. “Helping us” means sending troops, spending money and apprehending and deterring terrorists in their countries who are seeking jihad – holy war – against the U.S. in Iraq and elsewhere. The U.S. has refused to make the threat of leaving Iraq dependent on the offers of help from these Arab countries in the region who have more to lose than we do by our withdrawal of military forces from Iraq. This is the moment for President Bush to deliver such an ultimatum to our Arab regional allies.

I agree with this idea so long as a threat to withdraw troops is predicated on the basis of achieving victory in Iraq, not defeat. Which is what the Democrats and their handlers on the Left advocate.

Iraqi Army at Besmaya Installation Support San Diego Fire Victims

OPFOR dug this up from somewhere and posted it. Bet you won't see this reported in the mainstream press:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
RELEASE No. 20071026-01

Iraqi Army at Besmaya Installation Support San Diego Fire Victims
By U.S. Army Sgt 1st Class Charlene Sipperly
Multi-National Security Transition Command – Iraq Public Affairs

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Members of the Iraqi Army in Besmaya collected a donation for the San Diego, Calif., fire victims Thursday night at the Besmaya Range Complex in a moving ceremony to support Besmaya's San Diego residents.

Iraqi Army Col. Abbass, the commander of the complex, presented a gift of $1,000 to U.S. Army Col. Darel Maxfield, Besmaya Range Complex officer in charge, Multi-National Security Transition Command Iraq, to send to the fire victims in California.

The money was collected from Iraqi officers and enlisted soldiers in Besmaya. In a speech given during the presentation, Col. Abbass stated that he and the Iraqi soldiers were connected with the American people in many ways, and they will not forget the help that the American government has given the Iraqi people. Abbass was honored to participate by sending a simple fund of $1,000 to the American people in San Diego, to lower the suffering felt by the tragedy.

I thought they all [Iraqi's] hated us?

Amid all the Mudslinging It’s Time for a Break

It's been another mudslinging week in politics as we get closer to the election. Both the democrats and Republicans are fighting for votes in earnest. What worries me most however, is the democrats seem to be more concerned about defeating President Bush, rather than presenting a REAL plan to defend the country and defeat islamic fascism. (Redeploying troops to Okinawa, Japan doesn't count.)

Now for a break. MadTV pulls of a satirical look at the Al-Jazeera new network (H/T: Jawa Report.)

Egypt Rules out Recognition of the Muslim Brotherhood

The Muslim Brotherhood is often overlooked by the mainstream media as the root of organized muslim terrorist groups including al-Qaeda. The Brotherhood also formed a sinister alliance in the 1930's and 1940's with Adolph Hitler's Nazi movement.

From the Khaleej Times Online:

AIRO - Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif has ruled out any formal recognition for the banned Muslim Brotherhood opposition movement as an authorised political party.

“If you ask my opinion regarding the authorisation of religious-based parties, I would say no,” he told independent daily Al Masri Al Yom.

The thorny issue has resurfaced since the Islamist movement, which is officially banned but tolerated, scored a major triumph in last year’s parliamentary election.

The Muslim Brotherhood, whose candidates stood as independents under the slogan “Islam is the solution,” won 88 out of the 454 seats in parliament, making it the largest opposition bloc.

But Nazif insisted: “There is no such thing called the Muslim Brotherhood. There is no parliamentary group of Muslim Brothers.”

During the November-December election, more than 1,300 Muslim Brotherhood members were rounded up and imprisoned, but most were later released.

In recent weeks, however, hundreds of members of the group were detained after joining pro-reform demonstrations.

Muhamar Kadafi and Hugo Chavez Meet in Libyan Desert

From the Latin America News agency: Kadafi, Chavez Analyze Energy Issue. Chavez's visit to Libya is just one more example of how foreign governments, left-wing groups and extremist groups opposed to the "imperialist" USA are taking advantage of what they perceive as a weakened administration. And why shouldn't they? What with members of our own Congress, "whistle-blowers" and their media allies constantly undermining our President. The various factions are aligning themselves. Iranian rhetoric is becoming more and more daring and dangerous. In South America, leftist elements, led by Chavez are shoring up support among various middle-eastern groups opposed to the United States. Most notably, the Iranian and Venezuelan governments are actively cooperating. Chavez's own rhetoric has also become increasingly brazen. It's no coincidence that the Iranians are saying Israel will one day cease to exist, while Chavez proclaims the end of the US Empire (story featured in al Jazeera, no less.) During a recent trip to Havana, it's no coincidence that Chavez talks about the virtues of socialism versus the evils of capitalism (barbarism):

"We are facing the threat of global challenges stemming from the genocidal, immoral, sick, and corrupt elite currently governing the United States, which appear to have no limits,"

While Iranian president states in a recent letter to President Bush:

"Liberalism and Western style democracy have not been able to help realize the ideals of humanity. Today these two concepts have failed. Those with insight can already hear the sounds of the shattering and fall of the ideology and thoughts of the liberal democratic systems."

These factions are working towards one goal; the demise of America. They openly campaign for it and some are even arming themselves in preparation. Their blatant hypocrisy is breathtaking, but to them it doesn't matter. What matters is the destruction of American society as we know it, and wiping Israel "from the map."
