Edmond Young of Owings, Maryland was a twenty-two year old loving father of Stephen, brother of Marvene, Markia, and Michele who passed away in 1990.  Edmond held a position working as a Computer Technician for defense contractor BTG Inc. He had earned the respect of his peers and a reputation as being a resourceful, problem solving member of the team working at the Pentagon.

"He worked really hard," says his sister, Marvene Young, 32. "He liked the challenge of fixing a problem and making it work."

Edmond was also an aspiring Systems Administrator and was only three days away from taking the final exams that would earn him the title, "Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer", a very challenging and intensive series of courses where only the best and brightest of computer professionals earn that designation.

As a testament to his resourcefulness and hard work, Edmond put himself through school graduating from the Computer Learning Center in Alexandria, Virginia. He began his career with Consolidated Analysis Centers, Inc. working as a help desk technician for the Department of Education. He joined BTG Inc. shortly thereafter and went to work solving computer systems problems for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon.

Edmond loved basketball, shooting hoops and volunteered his time to manage the Calvert County Northern High School's basketball team, where he graduated in 1997. He was soft-spoken and loved spending time with his sisters. Edmond will always be remembered as a true family man. Always making sure his young son was provided for.

Edmond was working in Lt. General Timothy Maude's office in the Pentagon when American Airlines flight 77 crashed into the building ending his life, Gen. Maude's and the lives of 187 others.

Edmond Young, you and the other two thousand ninety-six victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001 will never be forgotten.

This page was created to honor Edmond Young as part of project 2996 involving more than three thousand bloggers. Each blogger will create a web page dedicated to honoring one victim of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Web pages are scheduled to appear online for the first time on September 11th, 2006.
